Pablo Etchegoin is one of the best. He is our great star of physics in the MacDiarmid Institute, but most importantly a truly good man, kind, generous and warm-hearted. Pablo has only recently learned that he is facing a rare life-threatening cancer. As Pablo puts it, "It is a bit like winning the lottery, but with a prize nobody wants."Miang and I visited Pablo at home today as he awaits major surgery in the near future. We talked over some of the issues one faces in being suddenly confronted with a situation that turns your life upside down. We each have to find our own path on this journey, but it is good to share experiences with comrades. Pablo has been overwhelmed by the messages of support that he has received from around the world. Many people truly love this guy. We are all hoping for the best possible outcome from surgery and a transition to full recovery. Kia Kaha Pablo!
