Last week Ross and Tina Anderson came over from High Wycombe to share a day in Ely with Miang and me. They are amongst my oldest friends. Ross and I were at secondary school together, went to university together, shared a room at Weir House and flatted together. He and Tina married in Wellington in in 1968 and have lived in the UK since the early 70s. Catching up with them is always a real pleasure for me.Ross is one of the smartest people I know. I never managed to match him at Maths and struggled to keep up with him in Physics, Chemistry and English. He is also funny and kind.

Ely is one of the great cathedrals of Britain. What I didn't know was what a charming river location it has. Ross introduced me to the walk along the Ouse and lunch at the Cutter Inn. It was a delightful day together.
