At Home

It is Catherine here again. Paul has now been discharged from hospital and is at home. He has his own hospital bed and is currently sitting in it looking out his bedroom window with views of Mt KauKau in the distance. He is comfortable, pain-free and very happy to be home.

The situation has changed over the last day or two. Paul's stomach and bowel have now shut down. He is unable to take fluids by mouth, and IV fluids have simply increased the fluid collecting in his stomach, which has caused a lot of vomiting in recent days. So Paul has decided that there will be no more fluids administered. This obviously means that Paul's time is now limited.

Chris has arrived from the UK. I have decided not to fly back to the UK tonight. Miang, Chris and I will help nurse Paul at home until the end. If you need to contact us, please call our home number (04) 977 9261.

    Dear Catherine, Miang, and Chris,

    Janie amd I are greatly saddened by the latest developments. We had hoped that the peritoneal surgery of 2010 would have given Paul much more time. Even though we are many thousands of miles away, we are with you all in spirit amd send you our love and very best wishes.
